               Vanguard transported the world’s largest monoblock press - a
               Schuler with a capacity of 600t, frame weight of 166t and
               dimensions of 4,25m deep, 6,1m wide and 8,90m high - from the Coega harbour to Trident Steel’s Struandale plant with its 18-axle
                Goldhofer trailer, pulled by two Mercedes Benz SLT horses.
               Vanguard used a brand new trailer configuration, utilising their
               SPMT and modular trailer in a side by side configuration, to
               transport 200 ton crystallisers from Metso’s manufacturing yard to
               the quayside at Durban harbour.
               Using a unique triangular trailer configuration, with Vanguard’s
               self-propelled modular trailer as the steering column, a 220t
               container handling crane was relocated, measuring 16m high and 37m long.
A 140t, 55m long cold box was transported by Vanguard along a
2400km route from Walvis Bay harbour in Namibia, to Chingola in Zambia.
               Vanguard transported a host of abnormally sized petrochemical
               vessels from Richards Bay to Secunda. The modularity of the
               trailer ensured that Vanguard was prepared for the quick
               offloading of each load, with a mere re-configuration of the axles
               and the addition of custom built items, such as decks and
               turntables.
               Vanguard’s SPMT is the ideal transporter for working in
               confined spaces, as its wheels are individually controllable and
               steerable, it distributes weight evenly and steers accurately.
