Operating locally and cross-border, Vanguard is a prominent player in the heavy haulage of large-scale, over-sized
machinery, offering turnkey heavy transport solutions, from the management of shipping to customs clearing, harbour
staging, route surveying, road clearance and even establishing new undefined routes in order to complete projects safely and
in the shortest time frame.

Supported by a comprehensive fleet of specialised hydraulic modular trailers and prime movers, Vanguard is able to offer
on-site payload capacities in excess of 1 000t.

Self-propelled modular trailers
Vanguard’s latest additions to its fleet are self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs), which are ideally suited to site work.
These trailers can be steered remotely by an operator, negating the need for prime movers. Their modularity enables them to
connect effortlessly to Vanguard’s existing axles for increased on-site payload.

Pioneering the way
Vanguard delivers transformers to Eskom
Vanguard transported and positioned six 255t single-phase power transformers, 15 x 82t reactors and accessories
manufactured by Japan AE Power Systems, from Richards Bay Harbour to Eskom substations in the Free State and
Mpumalanga. Read more

Petrochemical vessels transported to Secunda
SDV contracted Vanguard to transport a host of abnormally sized petrochemical vessels from Richards Bay Harbour to site in
Secunda. The project included the transportation of an argon column measuring 55m in length, one of the company’s longest
